A town on the banks of the Cher<\/span><\/h3>\n\n

The former commune of Bourr\u00e9<\/strong>, now a district of Montrichard, is home to an unsuspected treasure trove: 400 km of underground galleries and troglodyte dwellings. These can be visited at La Magnanerie<\/strong>, on the water’s edge, and you can also discover cavities at the whim of a restaurant or a mushroom cellar. <\/p>\n\n

Montrichard<\/a> also boasts a beach that was created during the paid vacations of 1936. A popular spot, it offers safe conditions for swimming in the Cher<\/strong> (the beach is supervised in summer) or renting a pedalo, all with a breathtaking view of the village. <\/p>\n\n

What to do around Montrichard?<\/h2>

The most popular tourist activity near Montrichard is, of course, a visit to the chateaux of the Loire Valley.<\/strong> The choice is so vast that we never tire of venturing out in search of a new fortress to discover and the secrets it has to reveal. <\/p>

It would be impossible to list them all, but Amboise<\/a> and the adjoining Clos Luc\u00e9 are a must-see, in the footsteps of Fran\u00e7ois I\u1d49\u02b3 and Leonardo da Vinci. Chenonceau<\/strong> is also a must-see, with its iconic five-arch bridge over the Cher.<\/p>

These two of the Loire Valley’s most famous ch\u00e2teaux are less than 20 minutes from Montrichard. The same goes for Chaumont-sur-Loire<\/a>, known for its remarkable park and stables in addition to its majestic ch\u00e2teau.<\/p>
